Boxing Day and My 18th :)

December 26th

Tip #1: Get an early start! It's not uncommon for shoppers to line up at the store an hour or two before the store opens. While I don't necessarily recommend getting in that early you will probably want to get there very close to when the store opens. Much of the good stuff is taken a few hours after opening, so if you're looking for a "hot" item be prepared to get up with the birdies!

Well I love it when this time of year comes around! Not only because I become 1 year older, I also get to spend the whole day at the mall! With stores opening and hour early, shopping carts zoom past you, faster then you can see, becasue someone down the aisle just heard about he new sale on sweaters. Just thinking to yourself, why am I here, what is with these people, am I going to make it out alive??? well these are the many questions that come across peoples minds when they endure the mall, the day after christmas. And thanks to my lovley cousin and friend....the tip up above sure came in handy.

In a panik the night before, i quickly texted my cousin to see what time she was going to pick me up at to go to schurch...she replyed back asking if i wanted to come shopping with her before church. Well, I couldn't say no, because she was my only ride to church in the morning....Thinking to myself, oh gosh how early is it going to be this week, her next text was i will be there at 8 o'clock. 8! 8! 8???? is she insane? i thought to myself...well nope she was telling the full truth, so I had prepaired to go to bed earlier, as to the many other countless nights I have not had much sleep. So as I lay in my bed, the hours go by and by and by.......1 am....2 am....3 am.... and im still awake! Finally it was 4:15 am, and im thinking to myself, i need to force myself asleep....3 hours of sleep were left remaining. With no time to loose...or gain in my problem, i layed my head down, and off to sleep I went. BEEP...BEEP...BEEP!!!!!!!! I pull the covers off the top of my head, roll over and to my shock it was already 7:30!..... Are your serious??!! why??!!! just 10 more mins please!!! But no one was there to hear my plea of hope, so I get out of bed, and make my way out of my room and to the bathroom I go. Already way to tierd from not enough sleep, I look up to find a HUGE spider on the blinds on the window! Are you for real right now!!!??? ( I HATE SPIDERS BTW) well so much for that shower I then tought. I guess that just leaves me more time to get ready. My phone vibrates on the bathroom counter, I pick it up and its my firend. "I'll be at your house at 830" The only thing that poped into my mind at the time was...."darn, i could of got my 10 mins of extra sleep!" Good way to start off the morning......I then finally got ready and picked up.

Once arriving at fFuture Shop, the store was alreadfy filled with people looking for the "hot deal" of the morning. As we make are way through, we walked around, then off to the mall we went. Now, I personally like to shop, I like going to the mall, have I ever been to the mall at 9 o'clock in the morning? NO.... We park the cars, and into the mall we went. Hurring over to Areopostal, we found a good 20 people already standing in a line waiting for them to open the gates. So we made our way into the line up, and not too long after, the big metal garage style door slide up, and one after another we pushed our way into the store. I didn't really buy anything in the morning, cuz I had already made plans to go shopping with another friend in the afternoon. Once being at the mall for a good hour, we found what we wanted and off to church we went.

Oh how I love going to church and see all my friends back form school for the holidays :) Now in high school your with them everyday, and you might even sometimes get sick or bored of them, but once they travel off to different schools in the province, you come to care more for your friends, cuz you don't get that oppertunity that was once shared in high school. What more could I ask for on my birthday?? Once church was finsihed bcak to the mall, like the crazy person I am, to find more sales and more stuff. After spending a good 3-4 hours in the mall i managed to buy 2 shirts, pair of jeans, silly bandz, lunch, SPC Card, and some other things I don't really remember right now haha. Finally we then finished the mall, and made are way over to walmart. With so much time still left, I then thought "ya! I don't need to rush to get my nails done nor do i have to walk fast to get through walmart." So i walk over to go get the nail place, and to my amazement there closed! Closed!? what? why? they have never been closed before!!! So then in dissapointment walk around walmart. As I look through the shoes and clothes, a friend walked by and wished me happy birthday :) Haha then i saw him and his friends about 4 more times before I left the store. I ended up buying a cosmetic brush set, hairspray, phone card and some nail polish haha. Then it was time for dinenr, then home. I was happy to be home to just realx and lift my feet, cuz they hurt from the all day walking. Did I mention I was in heels??? So I sat down with a good movie, and texted some friends. I also got to bed early for me that is, and it felt great to sleep for more then 3 hours :) And that is how my 18th birthday and Boxing day was celebrated :) Hope everyone out there got some serious fun shopping done :)

Christmas 2010

Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.  ~Janice Maeditere

I thought I would start my first blog with a quick little quote about Christmas :) Christmas is a time where families get together, open up gifts and enjoy each others company, but what about those out there that don't have that opportunity to experience this wonderful time of year with there families? Well this Christmas, my friends and I wanted to not only help out people but also give back to the community. My friend a few months back came up with this great idea of collecting clothing for the homeless. During the last few months, he was able to collect enough clothing, backpacks, coats, bibles and other things from local people in our church community and stores in the community to fill up his dad's big trailer. His original plan was that on Christmas morning when each of us our opening up our gifts with our families, him and his dad were going to drive to Toronto, Ontario and walk the streets and give out the clothing and other things to the homeless and/or people that needed it. This way everyone could have a good Christmas this year. But, he was able to collect so much stuff that he was able to make two separate trips, to two different cities. On Monday, of this past week, my friends and I traveled to London, Ontario, where we met up with the volunteers at a local food kitchen called the Ark Aid Missions. This is a center where they serve meals and give out clothing to those on the streets, or people that don't have as much as others can come in and get a warm meal and meet with other people in the community. From there we got introduced to everyone, and we were able to get started. We each grabbed as much stuff as we could carry and on our way we went. This was the first time I've ever done something like this, so not only did i find it a bit awkward, but also a bit overwhelming. As we walk up and down Dundas St. we saw many people. We gave out clothing, hats, mitts, socks, coats, backpacks, bibles, food, etc etc. And to see some of the people after receiving some of these things, could only bring a smile to your face. The warm feeling in your heart is powerful, and it keeps you going as the day goes on. Once giving out all the stuff that we brought with us, it was back to the Ark Aid Missions for us, where we helped serve coffee, tea, and food. Others had the opportunity to sit down with someone and talk to them. The stories that were told were powerful, and just to think that everyone out there lives the same as we do, we are wrong and we need to start thinking about others. Some people go day by day, just wanting to talk to someone, but not having that opportunity can be hard. So for us to just sit down for 20 Min's to and hour and just listen to them, could probably make there day. Their no different then any of us. You don't know what people go through on a day to day basis, so go up to that person you wouldn't usually talk to and just ask them how there day is going. You never know you could make a new friend, or change there feeling of the day. After all this was said and done, we then piled back into our cars and headed home. Its a great feeling knowing that you helped someone, that may or may not have as much as you. They not only know that God loves them, but there able to give there loved one a gift for the holidays or something to just keep them warm for the night. So when you are at home with your families this Christmas, I want you to think about the people out there that don't have a place to go or a family to be with this holiday, instead of that iPod or that brand new camera you wanted but didn't get. Christmas is a time filled with loving, caring and sharing. So love the people around you, care for others you do and do not know, and share with everyone. I have this Christmas, have you?
