For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139: 13-14
I love make-up. It's a staple in my house. I love lip gloss and mascara. I don't know if that rings a bell with you or not. But do you know why YOU wear make-up? Is it to cover up what you think are problem areas on your face? Or do you wear make-up in order to reveal those things about you that you love like your long eyelashes or your big, bright eyes? It's so easy for us as ladies to look in the mirror and quickly identify what we do not like about ourselves and our faces. Do you think God looks at each of us and thinks He made a mistake? That He messed up by giving us those freckles or a birthmark? Absolutely not! God created you unique and special. Be proud of who you are and what you look like because there is no one else like you. So the next time you are putting on your make-up, thank God out loud for your particular skin tone, your nose, your eye color and that dimple!
Reflection:
When I look in the mirror, do I notice the things I like about my face first or the things I do not like?
Application Step:
Reveal the real you and be proud..... go without make-up!
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I confess that when I look in the mirror that I recognize first those things that I don't like about my face and my looks. What I forget to think about is that when I pick out my flaws, I am criticizing the creator.... You. Lord, help me to see myself as a beautiful masterpiece. Help me to see the good and not the bad. Help me to see everything about me as an eternal stamp of approval by you onto me. Thank for loving me enough to give me MY eyes, MY nose, MY dimples, MY freckles, MY skin tone, MY eyelashes and MY smile. Amen.
